Areas photographed: Folly View Road, Leamington Drive
Born in Marlborough Gardens, I consider myself a true Faringdonian. I am the youngest of seven. While most of my siblings have flown the nest, (some as far afield as Swindon, and even Weston Super Mare!) I have remained in Faringdon. I've a lot of admiration for my mum and dad managing to bring up seven children.
I've seen a lot of changes here since I was born in 1957, some of them for the better. While I was taking the photographs I had the opportunity to meet people in my neighbourhood and to take the time to talk to them about the differences in the town.
I feel it's important to record the town, with the help of photographs, as it stands today, so that the future generations can look back at the changes that have taken place.
The thing I recognised while I was taking part in the project was the friendliness and openness of the people, something that I remember from my childhood. I think about what the next 1000 years have in store for Faringdon - hopefully lots of good things.
