I arrived here twenty five years ago to work as a family doctor at the Health Centre. Two of our three children were born here and all regard Faringdon as our home.

Faringdon at the start of the new Millennium seems to be at the crossroads of time, looking back over centuries as an agriculturally based community and forward to a community with more involvement in the outside world of business and industry. We wanted to make our contribution as a family towards photographing a part of the town, so I was helped by my wife Christine and two of our children, Emma and Ben.

The Coxwell Road shows the architectural development of housing spanning three centuries to the present day. Half way up is the Health Centre which was built as a Victorian Cottage Hospital and which is about to be replaced by a new medical centre in Park Road.

What will interest people about these photographs in years to come? Will it be the people? Will it be the houses? Or will it be those odd things called cars which seem to take up most of each photograph !
