It is said that I see most of my holidays through a camera lens and as my profession is illustration houses for the new property market, the idea of combining the two interests seemed right up my street, if you'll forgive the pun!!

What a great idea Hilary and Jenny had come up with - The fotoFARINGDON2000 project seemed a bit daunting at first, over 2,500 properties to cover in quite a short timescale. But split between an excellent volunteer response it reduced to 120 each.

My wife Sandra and I worked as a team and completed my quota in three evenings. We posted a notice through a selected number of letterboxes each day asking the occupants to be available the following evening while hoping for fine weather. This worked remarkably well, with a high percentage of families and pets anticipating our call and posing happily for their Millennium photographic recording. Our thanks to everyone for their co-operation. At those homes where there was no reply we posted a little note to say we had called and had recorded just the property.

As it turned out, because of re-landscaping, our house photographed worst of all - however this was what the project is all about - life and homes as they were in the year 2000.
